Rockstar Games has given the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, and we’ve already watched it countless times. While we’ve covered key details like the dual protagonists and Miami setting before, let’s take a look at the complete breakdown of everything else in the trailer.
In GTA 6, we are first introduced to Lucia, the main character, who seems to start the story as a prisoner. While in prison clothes, she says, “Bad luck, I guess,” explaining her imprisonment.
The trailer then shows different parts of life in Vice City (we’ll explore that later), before revealing Lucia with an unnamed man in a car. She tells him, “The only way we’re gonna get through this is by sticking together. Being a team.”
The trailer then shows Lucia and her partner wearing masks, planning to commit a crime. They end up together in a motel room. Leaked information earlier confirmed that the game would feature a Bonnie and Clyde-like couple as dual protagonists, so their involvement isn’t a surprise.
When Lucia asks, “Trust?” and he answers, “Trust,” we get a clue that their partnership might either help or destroy their lives in Vice City. The trailer finishes with them robbing a convenience store with guns, ready to make money the hard way.
We don’t know much about Lucia’s male partner yet, but it seems like another trailer will reveal his real name. It looks like Lucia is relying heavily on him to carry out her plans.

New Vice City map
The trailer confirms that GTA 6 takes place in Vice City, Rockstar’s version of Miami, Florida, in the fictional state of Leonida. The neon-lit streets and pink skies of GTA: Vice City return with amazing realism in this sequel, using technology seen in Red Dead Redemption 2 to create a modern-day setting.
The first real shot of Vice City is stunning, showing everything from sunny beaches to the vast city, offering a glimpse of the game’s improved draw distance.
We also see areas beyond the city, like the Everglades-style flooded grasslands where people travel on airboats and flamingos fly in large groups. This swampy area will likely be home to many alligators and other dangerous animals, similar to the lifelike nature seen in Red Dead Redemption 2.
The next shot appears to show GTA 6’s version of Key West, where we see a long stretch of beach with people in swimsuits. However, it seems like a very cramped and overwhelming place.
Throughout the trailer, we get more glimpses of Vice City: people riding speedboats next to cargo ships, a woman standing in a moving convertible, and more. The signs above her suggest there are different parts of the city, like the airport and downtown.
We also see a suburban area with cars lined up, the inside of a busy strip club, and a beautiful area of the city at night. The next part of the trailer focuses on the city’s nightlife, with lively nightclubs and plenty of sports cars. A fun detail is that at 0:33 in the trailer, you can spot Tommy Vercetti’s safe house, the Ocean View Hotel from GTA: Vice City!
Vice City feels alive in the short time we see it, mainly because of the increased number of people on the streets and inside places. More people on the streets make the city feel lively at night. It also makes it harder to steal a car without being noticed.

It Will Be Interesting To See Vice City
The trailer then shows the people living in Vice City, some of whom may be side characters in the main story. First, we see a woman in a bikini at a rooftop pool party with the wide city skyline behind her.
There’s a large golden sign that says ‘VICE,’ followed by a series of social media-style clips. One shows a man partying in a straw hat on a yacht while his friends cheer, and another shows an account called ‘OfficialPoach’ posting a video of an alligator being pulled from a pool.
Another account, ‘have.a.vice.day,’ shares a video of a woman dancing in a moving car with the caption ‘Someone calls the department of transport on this dump truck.’
Then we see two cars doing doughnuts in a street takeover and women dancing to music. Next, there’s a video of an alligator walking into a convenience store, bodycam footage of police raiding a place, and a half-naked person being chased down the street.
We also see a man in a thong watering his garden, and several people covered in mud, clearly drunk and enjoying themselves. There’s a woman holding two hammers who says, “Well, look who’s back,” before someone else falls onto a table.
The rest of the video shows more of the same: news footage of a car chase ending badly, a man with Joker-like tattoos in prison clothes, people popping wheelies on bikes, and a shot of traffic from a program called ‘High Rollerz Lifestyle.’
GTA 6 doesn’t seem to change the main formula of the series we’re used to: we’re still playing as criminals trying to make money in a busy city full of strangers and troublemakers. We got a look at Vice City in (almost) all its glory and some of the areas around it.
We also saw social media clips from the locals, which will likely be part of a social media app in the game. GTA 5 made good use of its phone apps, but GTA 6 could improve on that with more social media content. For now, all we can do is guess what’s coming in the next two years!
