GTA 6 Female MC: A Game-Changing Shift

Rockstar announces GTA 6 for next-gen consoles, with no PC release

Unfortunately, Grand Theft Auto 6 will not have a PC version when it releases in 2025. Rockstar Games has confirmed that the game will be available only on next-gen consoles, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.

A PC version was not mentioned in either the game’s first trailer or its press release, which implies that it is not planned for the time being.

GTA 6 will not be available on PC at launch. It won’t be released on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One either, a fact confirmed after a major leak about the game last year. The trailer shows impressive visuals that far surpass GTA 5, which isn’t a big surprise.

However, what might be unexpected is that the game will not be available on PC when it launches. This leaves Steam Deck users disappointed as well.

Rockstar tends to focus on console releases first, then releases a PC version a year or two later. For example, GTA 5 came out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013, then on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2014, and finally on Windows PC in 2015, two years after the initial release.

The same happened with Red Dead Redemption 2, which was released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2018 and on PC in 2019, a year later.

So, it seems like we may have to wait a long time for the PC version of GTA 6, possibly until 2026 if Rockstar follows this pattern.

It’s a surprising decision given how open the studio has become with its release strategy, and it’s especially frustrating for PC players since the game’s release is still far off. Rockstar co-founder Sam Houser spoke about the game’s larger technical scope in a recent press release:

“Grand Theft Auto 6 continues our efforts to push the limits of what’s possible in highly immersive, story-driven open-world experiences. We’re thrilled to be able to share this new vision with players everywhere.”
